Watercolor Effect Collection FAQ
When does the collection launch?
The Watercolor Effect Collection launches Friday, September 25th at 6pm ET! There will not be early access.
What are marbled colorways?
Addy's new marbled dye style lets colors melt, layer, and move across each skein for a soft watercolor-like effect, rather than being strictly speckled or variegated. The organic variation from skein to skein is part of what makes this style so special—not to mention the tiny micro-speckles that are always a fun surprise!
What colorways are included?
The collection features six colorways in our brand new marbled dye style:
Cold Snap · Wild Aster · Afterglow · Patina · Fog · Puddle Chaser
Plus Barrel Aged, our coordinating tonal, and two brand new speckled colorways: Porch Light + Prism.
What will be available in stock?
We've dyed 140+ skeins of each marbled + tonal colorway, with most of our ready-to-ship inventory on Soft Rose and Rose DK.
We'll also have smaller quantities on Plump Rose, Rosegold, Cloud, and Rose Lace, with very limited quantities on some other bases.
Porch Light + Prism will have 100+ skeins available across their bases. As speckled one of a kinds, these two are in stock only and will not be available dyed to order.
Please allow 5–10 business days for in-stock orders during the initial launch rush. After that, we'll return to our normal 3–5 business day processing time.
What will be available dyed to order?
All six marbled colorways + Barrel Aged will be available dyed to order on all of our bases except nonsuperwash.
Select the dyed-to-order processing time first, then choose your base. There is no preset quantity limit while each DTO option remains open.
If you need multiple skeins of the same colorway and base, we recommend ordering them together. This gives us the best opportunity to select skeins from the same or most similar dye lot.
And for our non-superwash lovers, stay tuned this winter—we have some special plans for nonsuperwash!!
How long will dyed-to-order yarn take?
Please allow 4–8 weeks from the September 25th launch, regardless of when during the DTO window you place your order.
We'll be dyeing and shipping as we go! Once we have enough orders of a colorway/base for a full batch, we'll dye it rather than waiting for DTO to close. That means some orders may ship closer to the 4-week end of the window.
We'll generally work through orders in the order they were placed, and your order will ship once everything in it is complete.
We're also processing Advent throughout September and October for shipment the first week of November, so we've built plenty of time into this window for both!
How long will dyed to order stay open?
We plan to keep DTO open through late October. We'll announce before we begin closing options, then close them colorway by colorway as we inventory and dye everything.
We'll also dye extras of some popular colorways as we work through DTO batches and add those back to our in-stock inventory!
What if I order in-stock and dyed-to-order yarn together?
Your entire order will ship once the dyed-to-order portion is complete. This also helps us select the most similar dye lots across your order when possible.
If you'd rather have your in-stock yarn shipped sooner, just email us and we can arrange that!
Will my orders be combined?
During the initial launch weekend, we'll automatically combine U.S. orders going to the same name and address whenever possible—no need to email us!
We typically merge orders shortly before shipping and will refund U.S. shipping overages greater than $5.
If you don't want your orders combined, please send us an email. If an in-stock order is combined with a DTO order, everything will wait to ship together unless you ask us to ship the in-stock portion separately.
Are there sock sets?
Yes! We'll have three sock sets:
Porch Light + Wild Aster and Prism + Puddle Chaser will be available in stock only.
Cold Snap + Afterglow will be available both in stock and dyed to order.
What else will be available?
We'll have Mystery Packs featuring recent Watercolor Effect prototypes and test skeins, tests from other projects, and additional packs from last month's drop!
There are also still skeins from The French Edit, Love Story, and Rosy Cheeks available to mix and match with the new collection.
Will these colorways return?
We expect that some favorites may make their way back next fall!
