Our Yarn Bases

We have a variety of different bases available in our shop. We have hand selected each one so that you can have the best overall experience with your making! The name before the weight of the yarn is based on the fiber content  (e.g. Soft Rose is a 85% Superwash Merino, 15% Nylon blend, whereas Single Rose is a 100% Superwash Merino)

A few of these bases are not always in the shop since I mostly do special requests for those select few. (e.g. lace and sport weight) With that being said, please email me if you would like to purchase a colorway on a specific base, so I can set you up with a custom order! - addy@rubyandrosesyarn.com

FINGERING WEIGHT:

Soft Rose base: (Our most popular base, and my personal favorite)

100 grams, 437 yards, 85% Superwash Merino, 15% Nylon, 4 ply

 

Plump Rose: (Amazing for Socks)   

100 grams, 400 yards, 85% Superwash Merino, 15% Nylon, 2 ply

 

Rosegold base: (A yarn with just the right amount of sparkle)

100 grams, 437 yards, 80% Superwash Merino, 15% Nylon, 5% Gold Stellina, 4 ply

(Shows up slightly more subtle on blue colorways)

 

Single Rose base: (Perfect for Shawls)   

100 grams, 437 yards, 100% Superwash Merino, 1 ply

 

Fragrant Rose: (Cashmere)

100 grams, 383 yards, 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Nylon, 10% Cashmere

Say hello to the base of our dreams! It’s a superwash yarn, but I personally think it feels like a non-superwash in some respects. It’s incredibly plump, buttery soft to the touch, and to say it’s luxurious is an understatement. 

 

LACE WEIGHT:

Rose Cloud: (Perfect for next to skin softness and holding with a strand with fingering weight) 

50 grams, 328 yards, 74% Baby Suri Alpaca, 26% Mulberry Silk 

Delicate Rose base: (An incredibly luxurious base for layering) 

50 grams, 459 yards, 72% Kid Mohiar, 28% Mulberry Silk

 

SPORT WEIGHT:

Rose Sport: (Sport is a great in-between weight)  

100 grams, 328 yards, 100% Superwash Merino, 4 ply


DK WEIGHT:

Rose DK: (Thickness combined with a touch of nylon makes this base perfection)

WORSTED WEIGHT:

Rose Worsted: (A luscious base that takes speckles beautifully)

Rose Bulky: (A base designed for projects that crave instant gratification without compromising on excellence)

Where Our Yarn Comes From

Our yarn and most materials are carefully selected from around the world! It is sourced from one country and milled in another to ensure the utmost quality. To name a few -  Australia, Argentina, South Africa, Uruguay and Italy. The fiber in ALL bases comes from farms that follow mulesing-free practices.

All of the merino wool I carry is around 19.5 microns which is some of the finest wool available on the market today. A Micron is a unit of measurement used to determine the diameter of a single wool fiber.  A Micron is 1/25,000 of an inch.  The fewer the Microns, the softer and smoother the yarn or the more suitable for next-to-skin wear.
